It’s official. Tomas Kaberle remains a member of the Toronto Maple Leafs. Here is Brian Burke’s statement.
“The hockey club confirms this evening that Tomas Kaberle remains a Leaf. While a number of Clubs made offers to trade for Tomas, none of them reflected Tomas’s value to our team. I understand a period like this is stressful to the player, and we are pleased that there is a resolution, and we can all continue to prepare for the coming season.”

A lot of people have expressed their opinions on the situation surrounding Toronto Maple Leafs defenseman Tomas Kaberle. Will they trade him, or won’t they? Are they better off without him than with him? If they don’t trade him, will they re-sign him? These are all very valid questions and I plan on looking at the latter two because, quite frankly, will they or won’t they, is only up to Brian Burke and the rest of the brain trust at MLSE to decide. With the deadline to deal Tomas Kaberle a mere 3 and a half days away, it appears as though, at least from the Kaberle camp, a trade seems inevitable. Rick Curran, Kaberle’s long time agent, had this to say when asked if the Leafs longest active roster player thinks he will be dealt. “At this point, does he anticipate or expect to be traded? Yeah.
