The new look Leafs(17-28-11) host the Devils(35-17-2) tonight in a match all of Leafs nation is looking forward to.

Synopsis: After Sunday’s apocalyptic events, the new look Leafs are poised to take on the Devils tonight in Toronto. The lineup will be without Stajan, Hagman, White, Mayers, Blake and Toskala but features Phaneuf, Sjostrom and Giguere. We’re about to see what the new look Leafs are capable of.

Keys to Success:

• Special Teams:  Tonight is important for special teams. We’ll get to see how good Phaneuf is on the PP, and how much of an impact supposed PK specialist Sjostrom will have.
• Kessel: Since the forward ranks have been thinned out, Kessel will need to step up more than ever. Bozak as well, but to a lesser extent. The offence will be rough for a while, but the…
• Defense: A lack of offense now calls for the best defense we have yet to play this year. We need Giguere to provide solid goaltending, and Phaneuf’s addition to the team provides an adequate defenseman with amazing physicality and intimidating presence.

• Giguere will get the start in goal tonight.
• Finger is the scratch tonight.
• Puck drops at 7:00PM on Rogers Sportsnet Ontario.
• Phaneuf will wear 3, Sjostrom 11, Giguere 35. Exelby gives up 3, and moves to 7.
